Larger signs, of course, can be seen from a greater distance than smaller signs. And, a larger sign has much more impact. As a simple “rule of thumb”, 10” x 14” sign is best for a reading distance up to 20’; 12” x 18” signs are best for a reading distance of 40’; and, 18” x 24” are best for reading distances of 60’ (or more). In general, though, the time and cost of installing and ordering a sign is such that it often makes most economic sense to purchase the largest and more durable sign that fits.
