Description: NORTH AMERICA Antique Map engraved by famous firm, J. Bartholomew, Edinburgh. The Bartholomew firm dates back to 1826 and still exists today - see below. The map appears to date back to the late 1800s or early 1900s, as Alaska is already noted as a US Territory (acquired 1867) and there is no notation of the Panama Canal (completed 1914). Map was likely taken from a larger book, as has number K 7. in the lower left corner. Most maps of this nature sport a center fold, as noted. The page measures 8 1/4 inches by 10 inches, while the map measures 7 inches by 8 7/8 inches. A nice vintage map, suitable for framing. Background information:Collins Bartholomew, formerly John Bartholomew and Son, is a long-established map publishing company originally based in Edinburgh, Scotland. It is now a subsidiary of HarperCollins. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collins_Bartholomew) More info on Bartholomew:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Bartholomew
