The wider shields came with the revision of 1961—previously, three-digit route markers were the same size as two-digit, but with narrower numerals. This design was supplanted by the modern shield style—often with the state name omitted! —in 1971, and it gets harder and harder to find the original-style interstate route markers in many states. This sign is flat printed on heavy gauge steel, with completely accurate layout and fonts. It weighs about 2 lb. 12 oz., and is 12 by 10 inches. It is a non-reflective sign—perfect for ordinary display, indoors or outdoors. (If you would like a different size version, please ask as I can certainly make one!) This is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection.
