Description: This is a new, unused governor assembly, part number 173-81153-20-00, that fits 1967 YCS1 180, 1968 YCS1C 180 Scrambler, 1970 CS3C 200 Scrambler and 1971 CS3B equipped with the Mitsubishi Starter Generator. It will also fit the non-US market CS3E 200 when equipped with the Mitsubishi Starter Generator. It will NOT fit units equipped with the Hitachi Starter Generator. The governor is new and never installed but not in its original package. The fly weights and point cam rotate freely and will advance and retard spark timing as designed. During the period these models were made, Yamaha used both Mitsubishi and Hitachi generators. The governors are not swappable between type so study the photos carefully. Hitachi governors have the Hitachi symbol stamped into them while the Mitsubishi ones do not. The Hitachi governor has the part number 173-81153-10-00. These type governor assemblies were installed on Yamaha models with DC Starter Generators and retard timing to make electric starting easier then advance the spark for full performance at revs above idle. Static Timing should be set with the weights fully extended as shown in Yamaha service manuals. After static timing is set it is recommended that you use a timing light to strobe the advance and retard function. Economy shipping to the lower 48 states only.
