Description: NOS “ISKRA” (ИСКРА) 1988 - Grey Unique Find Product We present a Rare and collectible NOS Vintage one-piece butterfly “ISKRA” (ИСКРА) safety razor with a grey plastic handle made in the Soviet Union in the 1980s. Package The safety razor comes in a full Factory Package including the Original Case with Stamped Instruction. The razor was held in a sealed military storage. Condition The razor comes in the excellent mint condition, it was never used or touched since production. The doors have an nice mirror finish and open smoothly to a need for a slotted blade! Condition: 10/10! THE HISTORY BEHIND THIS MODEL "ISKRA" (ИСКРА) - 1989 This razor was produced in Kursk (Курск) on the SCHETMASH factory (завод СЧЕТМАШ). The factory was built after Second World War in 1948 and became one of the biggest USSR manufacturers for the Data Processing Machines ("ЭВМ"). In fact, this factory still exists and operates and you can find its logo on the handle of the razor. The literal meaning of the razor name is Lightning (in Russian). The razor is a complete clone of Czech safety razor Astra 501 which in its turn took its design from American Schick Platinum ( the latter was produced only 2 years from 1970-72). This model was manufactured from the 1980s up until 1990. In the USSR there were at least 4 identical models produced in different factories: KEDR-2, UTRO, SARAPUL and ISKRA. All of them were based on the same design but had slight changes in colour, logo and materials ( you can also find several differences in barn doors). Doors open smoothly to a need for a slotted blade. This vintage razor comes as a full factory package in the Original White Case with Stamped Instruction.
