Description: Map of the Islands in the Atlantic, originally published in about 1851 This map is a book plate taken very carefully from a book of maps which was published in 1989. The map was produced by John Tallis and is one of a series of maps that Tallis produced in company with John Rapkin, for the Illustrated Atlas in 1851. These maps are very detailed and include small vignette illustrations within the map of prominent buildings or landmarks. There are 6 small pictures on the map, including ones of Madeira, the Azores and the Canaries (see photos for more details) This map is in excellent condition and has been produced on thick, good quality paper. It measures 13" X 9.5" and would look fabulous framed. As it is from a book the description on the rear of this map is actually of a different map. There is a photo of the text describing this map and I can print this off and include it in the envelope if you wish. Please ask. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS MAP IS NOT a PHOTOCOPY! The map has been kept in a sealed plastic bag and will be sent to you in a cardboard backed envelope. I have other maps for sale and will combine postage prices if you wish to buy any others.
