Description: Antique Maritime Sailboat Ship Lighthouse OIL PAINTING, Carved Frame, By Nielson Click images to enlarge Description OLD FRAMED OIL PAINTING Striking and lovely old framed oil painting on canvas measuring about 18" wide and 16" deep -- actual artwork is about 9-1/2" wide by 7-1/2" deep. Featuring a gorgeous fruitwood gilded and coved frame with lovely carving, painting depicts a stormy sea with a small boat battling the waves as it makes for port -- a sailing ship can be seen in the background, with a lighthouse on shore. Condition is lovely - substantial frame has no chips, cracks, hairlines, repairs, discoloration or damage - back of frame has spots of gold paint here and there - painting is without dents, holes, discoloration or damage - it has been varnished, which has caused the tone to yellow a bit - canvas back is a bit dirty with cased dust from age. I think the painting is beautiful - well executed by someone very skilled - wonderful action and movement - signed as shown, artist's signature is difficult to make out, but I believe the name is NIALSON (possibly Eric Nialson, a 20th century artist).
