I wouldn't hazard a guess at just how old the painting is, but, based on the original canvas, it appears to be no younger than the late 19th century. Please take a good look at our pictures showing the original canvas with the newer backing.Subject: This is a Venetian painting of a lagoon/canal church in the style of Guardi. It is suggested on the reverse by a previous owner that it could be San Giorgio. Condition: The painting has been very well preserved and is in wonderful condition given it's age. The re-lined painting has some craquelure and could use a light cleaning to bring the vibrant colors back. The frame has some chips to the paint. Please see pictures for more details. Measurements: The painting measures approximately 16" x 20". The sight size measures approximately 12 1/2" x 16". Please review the pictures and ask as many questions as needed.
