Description: Handmade Lampwork glass beads are made one at a time by heating a cane or rod of glass over a flame torch and then applying the molten glass around a mandrel. The bead is held over the flame while it is worked on and cooled slowly to strengthen the glass. It takes a lot of skill to keep the bead from losing its shape and the adding of other colors in swirls or flowers demands much concentration. This spectacular rondelle consists of a black glass core with a top layer of clear glass with freeform orange poppies peeking out. In the center of each poppy are yellow pistils.
