Description: Shipping Original 1870s Pen & Ink Drawing entitled on Verso "Georgies First Love Letter" Art work measuring 11.5 x 18.5 cm (4.5 x 7.25 in.)this finely executed pen and ink drawing depicts a young woman of perhaps 15/16 years of age intently reading a letter while sitting in her boudoir near an open window for good light. Her expression is one of intense scrutiny of the epistle in her hands while her voluminous skirt tumbles down from her and a hat and umbrella rest nearby. We discovered the title of this lovely original pen and ink drawing by taking the thin paper drawing out of it's backing and framing and discovered "Georgie's First Love Letter" written in brown ink in an old style hand at the very top of the drawing verso. As for a signature - there are possibly initials in the extreme lower left corner reading "LNG". The work bears some resembled to early pen and inks by Winslow Homer (Girl Reading at her Desk - 1875 comes to mind). An accomplished work relying for shading on heavy cross hatching and overlying lines - the drawing is in near fine condition, with some age toning along edges though not visible in mat. Work is matted, glazed and framed - but at winning bidders option, artwork can be sent unframed. Overall framed dimensions are 11 x 15 in.
