Description: Original 1921 antique color lithographed map of Japan by Hermann Haack. The image area measures 41.5 x 33.5 cm [16¼" x 13¼"], and the map is drawn on a scale of 1:3,700,000. Topography is drawn in relief, and there are three insets: [1] Hokkaido, [2] Taiwan (Formosa), and [3] the Kurile Islands. A legend key in the lower margin identifies main and secondary railroad lines, steamship routes, telegraph and cable lines, forts, ruins, active volcanoes, and other features, with text in German. The map was published in Gotha by Justus Perthes and is identified as Plate 77. It is from the 10th edition of Adolf Stieler's Handatlas. Condition: The map is in very good condition, with a horizontal center fold, as issued, with some faint spotting in the margins, an extra fold down the center, and no rips, tears, or writing. It is printed on a heavy paper and is blank on the back. Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions.
