Description: An original antique, copper-engraved county map of the English county of Westmoreland published in London in 1793. The map was originally published in ‘Cary’s New and Correct English Atlas: being a new set of county maps from actual surveys’. It has attractive outline hand colouring and includes significant detail of place-names, roads and topographical features. The map also includes a scale of statute miles and a decorative compass rose including the title. The map measures approximately 260mm x 210 mm with margins beyond, blank verso. The condition is excellent with a centrefold as published, light toning and very faint offsetting from the compass rose where the map has been folded. See photographs.
