N.p., Circa 1940s Description: Vintage portrait photograph of newspaper reporter, screenwriter, and progressive rights advocate Florence Welch, circa 1940s. Annotations in Welch's hand on the verso: "Florence / 1. Welch / 2. Wagner (Rob) / 3. Breese (Jim) / How fortunate and happy I have been / Florence." Welch worked as a newspaper journalist and activist for women's suffrage in Topeka, Kansas, later moving to California and marrying prominent artist and writer Rob Wagner. After Wagner's death Welch would remarry early aviator James L. Breese, living with him in New Mexico and California until her death in 1959. 8 x 10 inches. Near Fine.
