Original rare TELL apple crate label Yakima Washington St Louis Orchards arrow

Description: Original rare circa 1915 TELL apple box/apple crate label. Early Yakima Valley label showing an apple that has an arrow through it. This label was typical of the “investments” of Eastern people in new fruit orchards in the Yakima Valley. Many of these were scams and the orchards never made a dime but the promoters made off like bandits. There would be overseers who would take care of the orchards and some of these men were good orchardists and others did not know anything about apples. This operation with investors from St. Louis Missouri, stared in the early 1900’s on the Northwest side of North Yakima, near the Naches River. It never made much of a profit after 1914 due to it being heavily damaged by the floods of 1913-14, the small packing shed was washed away in 1914. The whole operation was sold to Richard Wachsmith in 1915. In the 1970s these labels were found by his son Richard Wachsmith Jr. I believe that this label says Yakima instead of North Yakima because it was outside of the city limits.Label is in good/fair condition BECAUSE IT HAS WATERSTAINS & TEARS THAT HAVE BEEN REPAIRED WITH ACID FREE TAPE - see photos. NOTE I HAVE SOME OF MY SHADOW IN THE PHOTO THAT LOOKS LIKE A PURPLE IN THERE THAT IS NOT ON THE LABEL. Label is sold AS IS. Note most all of these Tell labels I have seen have some sort of damage to them as they were found in the wild. Look carefully before your bid. I will combine shipping on auctions.
