The institution was first part of the Ethnographic Museum, in 1918 it became independent under the name of the Agricultural Museum. In the years 1937–1939, a new building was built for the agricultural and technical museum in Prague on Letna according to the project of architect Milan Babuska, where they immediately opened new exhibitions. After completion, however, the building was occupied by the German occupation army. The museum got the building back in 1945, but in 1950 it was confiscated for the purposes of the State Dislocation Commission. The museum therefore had to move its collections to the Konopiste castle and to the Kacina castle near Kutna Hora. In 1961, the collections from Konopiste were moved to the Ohrada castle near Hluboka Nad Vltavou, where the museum also acquired a zoo. In 1967, new exhibitions were opened at the Kačina Castle, in 1972 new exhibitions on forestry, hunting and fishing were created at the Ohrada Castle. The National Museum of Agriculture in Prague na Letná is located in Kostelní street in the Prague 7 district. The functionalist building in the immediate vicinity of the National Technical Museum building is at the same time the main exhibition building and administrative headquarters of the institution, which has a number of other workplaces where individual sub-collections and scientific curator workplaces (Wiki).
