Description: This is an original WW2 M1 Helmet and Vietnam War Helmet Liner! FRONT SEAM SWIVEL BALE! Helmet is front seam with swivel bales, manufactured by MCCORD RADIATOR COMPANY, STAMPED ????. Liner is the P55, produced between 1955 and 1963, the P55 M1 Helmet Liner was the first version not to have a front insignia eyelet.Made from laminated cotton duck, the liner featured; suspension webbing that could be adjusted to hold the liner at the right height on the wearer's head, neck strap and adjustable neck band that was designed to prevent the helmet from pitching forward, leather lined headband that could be adjusted to the wearer's head size and leather chin strap..Helmet is in good shape. Free from cracks, corrosion or rust. Has dents and wear from use (see pictures). STILL HAS ITS ORIGINAL CORK FINISH, PAINT AND OD T-1 CHIN STRAP! Liner is in good shape and has its original suspension. Liner has stains and soiling from use and prolonged storage, torn at one spot and missing two eyelets at the nape (see pictures). Liner is complete! Cover is in great shape and is made from early war twill material! Developed during the Korean War, the reversible Mitchell pattern camouflage consisted of a green leaf 'summer' design with a brown cloud 'winter' pattern on the underside. It was first used in 1953 as the camouflage for the Marine Corps shelter half. The Mitchell pattern helmet cover was introduced in 1959 and was used by Marines and Army troops throughout the Vietnam War. The helmet cover featured buttonholes for attaching foliage and early versions had shallow cut flaps, which necessitated an additional slot for the helmet strap. DATED 1968! SET SOLD AS IS!
