Description: Ovid: Fasti (Book 1) - An Original 1935 Manuscript Translation into English by W.T.E. Walkey. 55pp plus 3pp titles/dedication etc., "Ovid: Fasti Book 1, Translated into English Verse by W.T.E. Walkey, Dedicated to Richard Metcalfe, May 1935..". Interesting item, the writer/translator (Walkey) writes a nine page preamble outlining his translation methods and reasoning, which appears to be derived from Metcalfe's "..flouring, biblical prose..". I do not know whether this translation has ever been published, or seen the light of day. Approx. 165x190mm., original alligator binding with calf cartouche title pasted down on front cover. Owner's bookplate to inside front cover, some stain spots to endpapers, the text pages in good order.
