Description: With photo of Lou Gehrig and Gary Cooper on the dust jacket, up for auction is the first issue of the Book Club Edition, the Photoplay Edition published at the time of the film of the same name, of Lou Gehrig Pride of the Yankees (NY, Grosset & Dunlap, 1942) by Paul Gallico with an introduction by Bill Dickey. The book is in very good condition in a well intact binding. Top edge of exterior board is lightly soiled but no bumps or tears. Page ends show light age soiling. Top stain is uniform. With Baseballs Most Interest Statistics at rear (charts, leading pitchers and quiz), interior is very good with no marks but a short Christmas inscription 1942 to FFEP. Sans brodart cover, the dust jacket is in very good condition with small chips to crown, heel and corners. Folds at bottom corners have short closed tears. The opening bid is $12.00 with a very reasonable buy it now. Buyer pays $5.00 padded and boxed media rate shipping in the USA. I don’t ship directly out of country but will use EBay’s service. Books are returnable in same condition for a full refund.
