Description: Pepsi Cola Double Dot Change Tray Brunhoff Mfg Co Circa 1940s Glass Prototype. I call it a prototype but it was likely made as a sample to sell to a local bottler as a give away to retailers. Bowl is circa Late 1930s. Today Pepsi is more of a corporate atmosphere with conglomerate owners or parent company owned. Back before 1950s bottlers were owned by individual businesses and existing bottlers of other brands, ice cream shops, candy companies etc, so they sometimes operated on their own. They even bought their own glass bottles direct from glass companies. In any event this change receiver was was used on a countertop at retailers so buyers would scoop their change from the bowl. Bowl has a few minor spots missing in the paint on rear of bowl. Reverse painted or a tough version possibly baked on the bowl. Forget looking in a price guide, you won't find it listed and I don't think you'll find another. Brunhoff MFG company opened in 1890 and closed on June 30 1954. They made many point of purchase items including the Aluminum Coke Pretzel Bowl ca 1935 and others. If you like rare Pepsi items this one tops the list.
