Notes for the Science Geek:Each Soap displays the Element's...Atomic Number--90Symbol (abbreviation)--ThProper Name--ThoriumAtomic Weight--232.0377Ground State Electron Configuration--2, 8, 18, 32, 18, 10, 2 ANNOYING LEGAL STUFF:THORIUM is about three times as abundant as Uranium in the Earth's crust and a few THORIUM reactors have been built to see if it can be a replacement for Uranium as fuel in a nuclear reactor. The main obstacle to this so far is that the used fuel can be even MORE dangerous and difficult to reprocess and store than spent Uranium fuel! It is pretty safe to assume that there is NOT any actual THORIUM present in any of the ingredients (as shown in the last photo), so this is NOT a bar of soap made from pure THORIUM! Here's a fun fact that probably won't get you free drinks at a pub but could seriously impress an overly intoxicated patron whom you have finally convinced that you ARE a nuclear scientist, whether this is true or not. The half-life of the most stable isotope of THORIUM is roughly equal to the age of the Universe. If this same person sobers up and begins to ask further questions, sorry but you're on your own! IMPORTANT PHOTO NOTE: Besides its gift box, each ELEMENT SOAP comes wrapped in plastic to protect it. I did NOT unwrap these to take the photos...obviously! As a result, the wrinkles, bubbles, reflections, "blemishes" on the lettering (or "missing" letters/numbers) which are ALL evident in my photos, are because of this wrapping, NOT any sloppy craftsmanship in any individual, hand-crafted piece. These are all first quality or the Chief Bubble-maker would NEVER have sent these to me! My photos are MY headache!
