Description: PERSONAL MEMOIRS OF P. H. SHERIDAN, VOLUME II- 1988, Philip H. Sheridan General of the Union Army during the Civil War. From the Press of Jenkins and McCowan, New York. We are offering 2 copies with the same date but different binding. We are combining the books as one listing because of the poor condition of one book (brown cover which are loose and missing spine cover and spotting of page edges which are also dark) and the many historical maps contained therein. The green covered book with gold embossed picture of General Sheridan on his horse is also in poor condition with the cover very worn at spine, hole in front cover and darkened pages with stains. This particular book has the nameplate from the library of Kent W. Shartel, an important individual in Oklahoma City history. The map of the Battle Field of Winchester, Virginia is loose and torn. Both books were Published by Jenkins and McCowan, New York. Not only his Civil War Memoirs are included, but also a visit to Europe during the Napoleonic wars and a western mission in which he describes the Battle of the Washita in which Custer participated and further conflicts in Oklahoma Territory. These are collectible references and could be restored if wished.
