Description: Pewter-finish cocktail fork holder with white plastic insert flanked by Petronas Towers. One side shows the country seal, the other side, a cityscape in bas relief. Includes six cocktail forks with handles topped with the towers. Velvet paper base cover. The Malaysian government and Petronas, the national oil company aspired to construct a monument announcing Kuala Lumpur's prominence as a commercial and cultural capital. The Towers, designed by American architect Cesar Pelli, are elegantly proportioned and express the 'culture and heritage of Malaysia' by evoking Islamic arabesques and employing repetitive geometries characteristic of Muslim architecture. In plan, an 8-point star formed by intersecting squares is a reference to Islamic design; curved and pointed bays create a scalloped facade that suggests temple towers. The identical towers are linked by a bridge at the 41st floor. The Towers was the world's tallest building until 2018.
