I had beencollecting Phase Linear since the 1980s. The Gentlemen in Washington State whoused to work at Phase Linear are the only ones I am aware of with largercollections. I believe they have sold most of these collections off. I recentlyrealized I still have 2 huge 800 square foot stereo vaults with storage rackingto the ceiling full of Phase linear equipment. There is some infill of Pioneerand Carver for the units that Phase Linear simply did not offer as options. Ialso have more Phase Linear fans than I will ever use. I have collected myPhase Linear units from around the world. At one-point I had gone through ~20%of the entire 1400 series II equalizers production in my search for the perfectones for my system. A full 50% of my collection is NOS and the rest is MINToriginals. You should know the manufacturing process was a rough one on theunits. NOS is no guarantee of perfection. Perfection came with going throughuntold numbers of units in service that were collected, and parts that weremint were interchanged out over time into one unit (or more). I have spoken toboth the designers and builders of the units who were charitable with theirtime. They shared the history, production and design of these beautiful units.Fully half of ALL the NOS units I procured had blemishes on them. Even when the4 pallets of NOS 3500 series II preamps were found I bought a dozen of thoseunits to get the flawless ones I have now (combined with the additionalcollected out in-service unit mint parts). My 7000 series II tape deck alonetook 20 units (including a NOS one) to get one with absolute MINT unblemishedparts. What I have left is a large collection of very nice units across theboard of Phase Linear to sell off. It is time to enjoy the decades ofcollecting and hard work. There was a time I sold Phase linear fans but I was notsatisfied by the way they were turning out. So, I stopped. You might be able totell I am a little bit obsessive and perfectionistic (to your benefit). I hadcollected over time several blemished original fans, spare parts as well as acollection out of an old stereo shop. Recently I thought it was time to getback to doing things right and offer them once again. The supply of these arelimited. The condition of the fans is as good as you could ever possibly get. These were done right and are blemish free. If there are any marks, again theyare from the production process. Missing panels were replaced with laser cutmates. All finishes were done again, but this time in power coated finishing. This finish is a very close match to the original finishes but far moredurable. I do have a few extra original unrestored 700 fan side panels ifsomeone is interested? They are simply left over from this process. I also havesome extra Phase Linear decals available. PhaseLinear Fan history and motor placement A little history aboutthe fans. They were very very rare. I know of only about a dozen that have everpopped up for sale outside of the ones I offer. I bought most of these back inthe day. The 1970s "Boxer" brand fan was extremely quiet and came infrom 22-24db range on testing. When bringing these back to the market I foundthe quietists replacement motors on the planet. They are about 24db onprofessional mic testing. The original motors were in this range as well.I find them quiet. If you have never had one on an amp you might notice a lowlevel of operation but most do not. So far feedback has always been good. However, the level of noticeable air movement can vary. The way to get themsuper quiet is to use a small step-down transformer (or rheostat) to dial inthe rotational speed of the motor units (SEE NARRATIVE AND PHOTO ABOVE). Thator going with a 12-volt motor which would fit in the shroud but still need atransformer. I have never had to do it but want to be clear on the units asstarted in the ads. The700 fans fit ALL 700 series B amp, I & II amps. Theseare narrower than the 400 series fan due to the 400-fin separation beingwider. The fan shroud assemblies for the 700 and 400 series simply slide snuglyover the cooling fins at the back and 2 alligator clips then hold the shroud tothe fins at the bottom. No modifications or work is required at all. The powerchord then plugs into the back of the amp or the wall outlet if close by. Thefans come with the standard 1-foot length chords. Longer chords are availableif needed. Just request one at no extra cost. The D or Dual 500 fans require 2special high tolerance mounting brackets. If you are purchasing a 500 seriesfan there is an additional $15.00 cost for these brackets. These cooling fansreally are a must if you use your amplifiers for any length of time at all. Theheat buildup will trigger the amp to cut out despite the passive efforts of thecooling fins at the back of the units. These Fans have been promoted inthe past as necessary to avoid burning out the main board on the amps andearned the Phase Linear amps the nickname of Flame Engineering. This ismore myth than fact. However, many of the 700 amps I have run did kick offafter about 45 minutes due to heat buildup. It is/was a common problem. I placed labels on bothsides of the fan motor in case you wanted to unscrew and reverse the directionof the motor. Some prefer the pull thru of heat while others like the pushthru. I think the resistance going against the amp may work it harder thanneeded and cools less well but it will task either. As mentioned in the Ad, therheostat shown in the photos is available to adjust the fan as variable speed. That can increase or decrease the rate of cooling or fan sound level to yourspecific needs. It is available from another vendor for $13 shipped. I cantcompete with that price. All fans are testedbefore going out. There is a one-year warranty. THERE ARE NORETURNS EXCEPT FOR UNDER WARRANTY. So, buy well. Buyers remorse has littlesympathy here especially your children biding when you are notaround. THE BUYER HAS THE CHOICEFOR MORE FANS AT A REDUCED PRICE ON LARGER NUMBER OF FANS PURCHASED. I will be offering thePhase Linear 400 series II fans, as well as all models in the 220240-volt units if you are abroad, or running your own power on 220-240 volts. Postage abroad is $60 and buyer takes the risk of shipping time and loss. See my other eBay ads for those units. Regarding Overseasshipping. YOU MUST CONTACT ME PRIOR TO PURCHASE. This is to be sure youunderstand the conditions of the sale. The overseas and shipping/buying policyis that I can provide tracking to our borders, but once it leaves our shoresand arrives at your customs, I am no longer able to track the package nor areresponsible for any loss, time of arrival or damage.
