Images four through six are of the vigorously-growing plant offered for sale, a well-established stem cutting taken from a domestically produced F2 specimen, growing in AAAA grade NZ sphagnum in a 5”” pot and with 14-15" nicely rippled leaves. Spiking a new growth when these images were taken in late July 2024. NOT propagated from direct source wild origin stock. Philodendron patriciae is, without a doubt, one the most striking rare tropical epiphytic aroid species in cultivation. Discovered and described fairly recently (2010) from one of the world’s wettest regions in the lowland of the Colombian Choco Province, it is remarkably tolerant of a wide range of temperatures in cultivation. It is a slow climber, so plants in hanging baskets should be provided with a totem to allow the stem to root onto it as the plant matures. Leaves to over 4’ in length after many years and become more rippled with age. Color is darker and more intense under moist, shady conditions. Can handle nighttime low temperature to at least the mid-40s under shelter with no visible damage, but this species is very intolerant of wind or dry conditions and prefers fully warm tropical conditions to look its best. This species is the centerpiece in any tropical plant collection it graces – a must have for all tropical foliage enthusiasts! All plants offered are greenhouse grown on benches in the San Francisco Bay Area, California.
