Description: This is comedienne Phyllis Diller's owned and used red, long, jewel-studded prop cigarette holder which came directly from her collection. I acquired this directly from the elder, legendary comedienne in the early 2000s when Ms. Diller was selling her paintings and some of her show business memorabilia at her home in Brentwood, California. This 7-inch plastic cigarette holder comes in a special old, classy and ornate, Asian-made wooden box where she stored it along with four of her painted white, wooden cigarettes. (The comedienne never actually smoked from the holders in her act, it was simply a prop; the cigarettes were wooden props always.) Ms. Diller told me this was used in her live act and in the production of "Pruitts of Southampton" as seen on the cover of this regional TV Prevue television guide, as shown. (Magazine is shown here for reference purposes, not included in the auction.) This auction comes with a terrific vintage pose 8x10 glossy photo personally autographed by the legendary comedienne for me, a 5x7 photo of the TV Prevue cover shown here, and a 5x7 color photograph, shown here, that I took of Ms. Diller posing with the actual cigarette holder when I acquired it from her at her home. The special old decorative wooden box where she stored the holder and fake cigarettes measures: 11 x 2 x 2 inches. I'm happy to include a signed Letter of Provenance if the purchaser requests.
