Description: A Pierre Brissard antique La Gazette du Bon Ton "Un Ameublement Elegant" 1912 fashion print Paris. La Gazette du Bon Ton was published in Paris from 1912-1925 featuring brightly colored fashion pochoir-printed illustrations of contemporary fashion. The illustrations were done by such noted artists as Georges Lepape, George Barbier, Erte, Pierre Brissard, Andre Marty, Charles Marton, and Umberto Brunelleschi. The "pochoir" process is a technique of using stencils to make colored prints and was refined in France during the last quarter of the 19th century. After an analysis of the color sin the original composition, a stencil is cut for the areas of each different color. Next each pigment is hand applied with a short, soft bristle brush over the black ink outlines. The end result is an amazing quality brightly colored print of a woman reading a book in her elegantly furnished home. This antique Bon Ton Fashion pochoir print measuring approx. 10" x 12"shrink wrapped in a single mat with an image size of approx. 6-1/8" x 8-1/2". Please take a look at our photographs.
