Description: An antique and original bronze sculpture of a leashed dog, signed by the famous artist P. J. Mêne , with F . Barbedienne Fondeur. France, circa 1870. This pretty antique piece depicting a leashed dog attached to a tree , it is a high quality work . A very nice detail, you can see the hair of the dog, muscles, expressions of eyes. Also a very nice pose. Signed at the base ( P. J. MÊNE ) , also at the rim of the base F. BARBEDIENNE FONDEUR. ( as shown in photos ). The first is a great French artist ( 1810- 1879 ), the second is one of the famous French bronze casting house in Paris ( 1810- 1892 ). Please see photos carefully to admire the beauty of the work. H : 9 inches ( 23 cm ) to the top of the tree. H : 6 1/2 inches ( 26.5 cm ) to the dog W : 12 1/2 inches ( 32 cm ) D : 4 3/4 inches ( 12 cm ) The last photo shows that the leash is detached , I don’t know if the artist made it on purpose or it is broken. Also the same photo shows 2 scratches to the back of the dog. Original brown patina, very clean piece. No dents or damage to the bronze ( except what I mentioned ) Heavy piece. VERY GOOD CONDITION N B : it is VERY RARE to find a bronze piece signed by P.J.Mêne and also signed by F. Barbedienne
