Description: The book is fun. Ok, it's a 'niche' and I probably would not have bought it if it wasn't for the Maverick tribute. I do play cards alot, but I don't actually gamble with real money, so I don't know how "good" the book is as it relates to actual poker. From my experience, I would say there was nothing 'untrue' in the book and I thought the poker information was basically sound. I also ordered 'Maverick's guide to Poker". They're the same book, however Maverick's Guide adds a chapter on Texas Hold'em that Poker According does NOT have. But then Maverick's Guide doesn't have the fine photo of James Garner and Jack Kelley on the cover, if that means anything.Anyway, I thought it was good read. Anyone can learn to play poker, but like the book says, if you want to play it with the Maverick brand, read the book.
