Description: Window Card for "Porgy" Circa 1928/29 National Tour at Ford's Theatre Baltimore. "Porgy" is the basis for Gershwin's "Porgy and Bess". The Theatre Guild Production opened on Broadway May 9, 1928, at the Guild Theatre moving to the Republic Theatre playing 518 performances. "Porgy" then went on tour with the original principal cast members. The show returned to Broadway on September 13, 1929, at the Martin Beck Theatre for 34 performances then the show continued its tour into January 1930. Original Lee Simonsen artwork.
