Description: Portmeirion Botanic Garden Rimmed Soup Bowls Set of 3 Assorted Bowls 8.5 Inches. Found at an estate among many Botanic Garden pieces. This bowl set is in used condition. There are no chips, cracks, crazing, fleabites or repairs. There are some missed glaze imperfections (beige spots) on 2 of the bowls near the laurel band (see photos with green arrows). There are light utensil marks from normal use. Each bowl is photographed top and bottom. Portmeirion artist Susan Ellis-Williams came up with the idea for Botanic Garden in 1972, when she was looking through rare books and discovered a volume of beautiful, meticulously drawn floral illustrations. The launch of Botanic Garden included 28 different flowers and was an immediate success.
