Description: Pre-1900 Silk Taffeta Dress w/Underskirt & Bloomers Size 6-8. The dress has been added to. The bows and string of fake pearls in the front are not original to the dress. The zipper is not period and there is a tear in the back at the top of the zipper under the arm. (See photos). There are sweat stains noticeable in the back. It comes with an underskirt which it is meant to be seen. The photo shows it folded in half. It has a side zipper. The waist is 36” so as to be adjustable. It is not period. The bloomers are also not period. They have a drawstring closure, the waist is 28”, the Rise is 14” and the Inseam is 24”. There is a small rip in the seat. Both the underskirt and bloomers were handmade. The dress should be worn with a hoop skirt petticoat in a bell, not a cone shape, around 50-60 inches in diameter. (Not included). The color of the dress is a shiny slate blue. The color of the ribbons, the underskirt and bloomers is ivory. The glass beading on the cuffs and the neckline is period. The sleeves are shirred with gathers on the back. With a little sewing this could be great for Theater of Civil War Reenactment.
