Description Arcanite Alum is a potassium sulfite mineral. It was first described in 1845 when it occurred on old pine railroad ties in the Santa Ana tin mine in Trabuco Canyon in he Santa Ana Mountains in Orange County, California. These specimens are grown in a lab to produce large specimens with few imperfections. This Alum is created in a lab in Poland using the hydrothermal method. Usually Alum is colorless but color can be added through the water. The translucent root beer colored crystals grow from a solution that stains the Marble base orange or yellow. Alum are created in a variety of colors including purple and green. Keep away from moisture and direct sunlight as this may damage the crystal. Direct sunlight may cause the color to fade. Fragile, handle with care.
