See the Difference There are two distinct styles of Q Forms, depending on the size of woofer and grill you wish to use. Please use the information below to deduce which model to order for your vehicle, as pictures of every model and color are not available at this time. Style B The surface for the woofer is recessed for installation of up to a 5-1/4” woofer and the included perforated, color matched grill. Cut holes for your woofers and tweeters according to specifications as the size varies with manufacturers. Style C Notice the surface for the woofer is flat. Install up to a 6-1/2” woofer using woofer supplied grill and tweeter. Cut holes for your woofers and tweeters according to specifications as the size varies with manufacturers. Q-Logic C-Series Q-Form custom kick panels are designed to hold a 2-way component speaker system consisting of a woofer up to 6-1/2" and a tweeter (up to 2" diameter). They are fabricated of durable ABS plastic, color matched to the factory interior colors, and directly replace the factory kick panels. The positioning and angle of the speakers provide optimum stereo imaging and staging. No Grilles: No grilles are included with the Q-Forms C-SERIES, you must use the grilles supplied with the component system. In some cases, the grille could slightly overlap the mounting surface for the woofer. In this case the cutout can be made so any overlap occurs at the back bottom edge where it will not be visible. With Q-Forms, each speaker is located and angled to maximize sound quality. The theory is that the distance between your ears and each of the speakers should be equal. With your speakers in the kick panels, it's like sitting in that "sweet spot" at a concert or right between your home speakers Note: The Q-Forms do not come with pre-cut holes, so you must cut holes in order to install your component speakers in the enclosures. Installing the Q-Forms panel enclosures in your vehicle may require relocation of the parking brake pedal or other vehicle parts. Already have a Q-Logic Enclosure and Subwoofer system? The next step is to upgrade your speakers. But first, we need to clarify one thing. Stock speaker locations are not the ideal. In most vehicles, the speakers are mounted in the doors and fire directly into your leg. Here’s something to think about. Whether it’s a Home or Car Audio store, when you go to listen to any speakers, they are always aimed directly at you. You are “On Axis” with the speakers. Speakers are engineered to Sound and Perform Best, when you are On Axis. Once they are installed in the doors of your vehicle, you are now “Off Axis,” because the speakers are no longer aimed directly at you. Therefore, the ONLY time you get to hear your speakers, as they were designed and engineered to sound, was at the Store when you bought them. Does that sound right? Not at all! The addition of a pair of Component Speakers, in a set of Q-Form kick panels, puts you back On Axis with your speakers and back in the “Sweet Spot” for great, concert-quality Sound. Hopefully, this makes sense. If not, please visit a Home or Car Audio Store, stand On Axis with the speakers, then turn or stand Off Axis and listen. The difference is Amazing. FACTORY KICK PANEL REMOVAL: DRIVER & PASSENGER Side: You will need to cut the threshold portion of the factory kick panel off and save for re-installation into the vehicle later. Mark with tape the threshold that the back edge of the kick panel rest on for later measurements. Pull off the trim above the kick panel. Pull the factory kick panel and threshold up and back away from the metal bulkhead. Note: Always check the fit of the Q-Forms panel in the vehicle BEFORE any cutting or modifications are done! SPEAKER INSTALLATION: Cut the speaker holes in the Q-Forms before installing the panels in the vehicle. Using a hole saw of the correct size, position the pilot drill on the dimple at the center of the speaker mounting surface. Be careful as the hole saw exits the rear of the panel. Install speaker wiring and crossover network as per manufacture’s instructions. Install tweeters as per manufacture’s instructions. Install midrange drivers after Q-Forms panels have been installed in the vehicle. Q-FORMS KICKPANEL INSTALLATION: DRIVER’S Side: Pull the carpet back and remove the dead pedal. Cut the carpet as shown (see Fig. 1) and lay carpet down in corner. Lay the Q-Forms kick panel into place in the approximate location and connect the speaker wiring. Install the kick panel into the permanent position previously held by the original kick panel. Be sure that the front edge of the panel is next to the rubber door seal. While applying firm pressure to the kick panel and in the top hole drill a 1/8” hole into the metal bulkhead. Be careful when drilling to avoid wiring behind panel. Use the supplied #8x1.5” pan head metal screw and a 7/8” spacer behind kick panel secure panel onto the bulkhead. Again apply firm pressure to the kick panel and in the bottom hole drill a 1/8” hole into the metal threshold at a slight angle. Use the supplied #8x1.5” pan head metal screw and a 1” spacer under kick panel secure panel onto the threshold. Lay the supplied polyfill in and around the opening for the midrange driver. Install the midrange driver as per manufacture’s instructions. PASSENGER’S Side: Lay the Q-Forms kick panel into place in the approximate location and connect the speaker wiring. Install the kick panel into the permanent position previously held by the original kick panel. Be sure that the front edge of the panel is next to the rubber door seal. While applying firm pressure to the kick panel and in the top hole drill a 1/8” hole into the metal bulkhead. Be careful when drilling to avoid wiring behind panel. Use the supplied #8x1.5” pan head metal screw and a 7/8” spacer behind kick panel secure panel onto the bulkhead. Install the midrange driver as per manufacture’s instructions. FACTORY KICKPANEL MODIFICATION: DRIVER’S and PASSENGER’S Get measurements from the edge of the tape to the drop downed edge of the kick panel (see Fig. 2 & 3). With the factory kick panels on a workbench measure from back edge of threshold panel and mark out the measurements on the thresholds. Using a square draw a straight line across the threshold panel. Cut the panel at the line you just made and check the fit in the vehicle. It may be necessary to cut a little more off. Clean and straighten the edge with a file. It may be helpful to use some 400-grit sandpaper or a plastic deburring tool to give the cut edge a nice finished look. Repeat process on both factory kick panels. Re-install the factory threshold panel that was cut from the factory kick panel along the bottom of the door opening. Slide the threshold panel tightly against the bottom edge of the Q-forms panel and snap back into place. Re-install the trims above the kick panels.
