This REMASTERED DVD is sourced directly from the original high quality LaserDisc to DVD for the first time ever! Quality is unmatched as it transferred from the long since deleted Japanese LaserDisc from OVER THIRTY THREE years ago. Background: This concert to put it simply is extremely rare. Why? Because there is ONLY ONE version of this existing artifact of this classic concert tour, it is a Japanese only import LaserDisc. This one of a kind early 1981 performance of Quincy Jones and all of his collaborators listed below in detail, was, never released on VHS in any country, was never released on LaserDisc in any country. There is only ONE EXCEPTION and this is the Japanese Imported LaserDisc from which this REMASTERED DVD comes from. Even now the amazingly rare Japanese only LaserDisc of this concert goes for over $80.00 used. Still to this day, this vintage concert has NEVER been officially released on DVD until NOW! Description: Quincy Jones has been known for his magnificent arrangements and compositions. In his entire musical career, he has produced albums from different well known artists like Michael Jackson, James Ingram, Frank Sinatra and more. This rare concert starts off with an interview with Quincy in the studio discussing his music. The live concert was recorded by NHK Television & FM Radio at The Budokan Hall, Budokan in Tokyo Japan on July 9th, 1981. A shortened version of this performance was broadcasted on Japanese television shortly there after on August 2, 1981 as "Quincy Jones Live In Tokyo". Eventually a more complete version of the concert was released on LaserDisc seven years later in 1988. Quincy played along with Carlos Rios - guitar, Toots Thielemans - guitar and harmonica. Played his ever popular song Bluesette with whistling effects and Brown Ballad composed by Quincy Jones. Patti Austin - singing - Razzmatazz, James Ingram - singing - Just Once and I know Corrida.
