Description: Here's a rare piece of Akron radio history. This is a Christmas greeting that folds open to reveal a photo of the studio of WFJC of Akron, Ohio. The photo measures about 4 inches wide by a little over 2.5 inches tall. In the photo, there's a simple microphone and chair next to a piano. This was postmarked December 23, 1929. There's some staining on the envelope as can be seen in the photos. Here's some history about the radio station: In 1927, automobile dealer W.F. Jones was granted a permit to move WDBK 1320 AM from Cleveland to Akron. Renamed WFJC, the station broadcast from the Akron Beacon Journal building. Sam Townshend was listed as station manager, secretary and lead engineer. In 1928, the station changed its frequency to 1450 kHz. The radio station went off the air in December 1930 after it was purchased by WGAR of Cleveland. The studio was taken over by WADC. Shipping in the U.S.is $4.00. Sorry, no local pick up.
