History: The Japanese in the 16th & 17th century developed a ceramic technique called RAKU. In the 20th and 21st centuries, two artists, father and son, with more than 57 years of experience in the ceramic field, took this process from old world traditions of the Japanese and Americanized it through a form of ancient alchemy. The alchemist dream throughout time was to take a base metal and turn it into gold. Years of chemical and ceramic testing have produced a brilliant, stable gold glaze, seldom found in the art world today. In this case, the two modern day artists/alchemists successfully took silver and converted it into gold. Truly, all that glitters is gold. . . RAKU
