Description: RARE 1911 T9 Turkey Red Jack Johnson #76 Checklist Back SGC Authentic Up for your consideration is a very rare example of the 1911 T9 Turkey Red Jack Johnson with the Checklist back. It has been graded AUTHENTIC by SGC with a note that there is evidence of trimming. I question the “evidence of trimming” note – the card is off center from left to right but I do not see any evidence of trimming and the card measures up to other T9’s in my collection. That being said, I have priced it as an SGC AUTHENTIC graded card. Jack Johnson was an important sports figure who truly integrated boxing by becoming the first African American to win the world heavyweight crown in 1908 when he knocked out Tommy Burns who was champion at the time. Johnson successfully defended the title until 1915 and continued to box until he was 50 years of age. He passed away in 1946 in an automobile accident in North Carolina.
