Description: Unusual Original WWI HEAVY LEATHER GERMAN BOX, Battlefield Pickup, Used as Map Holder by Named Canadian Artillery Officer DESCRIPTION: Scans show it all....ORIGINAL German heavy leather German box, used to carry and hold his maps during fighting & combat, and to hold his maps when he brought them home!!! THIS WAS USED!!! IF YOU WANT SOMETHING THAT WAS "THERE" AND USED DAY TO DAY DURING WWI, THIS IS IT!!! It held all his maps during field operations and constant use. Shows regular use, so in only fair condition.Best part is that I have the name of the Canadian Artillery officer who owned and used this and brought it home along with a couple of his original maps, photos, barrage tables, and other souvenirs. Also hand written story about how he was the last person to see his commander alive at Passchendaele (shown, and THE ORIGINAL, WRITTEN BY HIM, will be included with this). Owner was an artillery lieutenant, and his name and outfit will also be provided to the lucky buyer. I currently have his last 3 remaining actual maps that he used and were carried and stored in this, listed on ebay.This WAS USED AND WAS ACTUALLY USED IN WWI BATTLEFIELD OPERATIONS.
