Description: This is a fabulous, extremely rare, antique Navajo cluster pendant, 3”, with nine stunning bezel-set, high grade Blue Gem turquoise stones. The pendant is signed E. Yazzie and features a pinned, handmade loop bail which toggles back and forth. It appears at one point that there was a bar pin attached allowing it to serve as a brooch, and then later removed. This pendant was preliminarily assessed by a well-known appraiser of Navajo and Native American art in Santa Fe. He felt that the pendant dated to at least the 1920’s or 1930’s, and that it was possible that the signature of E. Yazzie indicated the name of the owner rather than the artisan. E. Yazzie could be Elizabeth Yazzie, but there is no way to tell. This large, exceptional piece displays nine gorgeous, untreated gem-quality, Blue Gem Turquoise stones set in a handmade, hammered Sterling pendant. It is a rarity to find such very beautiful, old natural stones, and several of the stones actually have the appearance of Bisbee. The pendant with bail measures 3” and without the bail, 2 ½”. There are no chips, cracks, damage to the pendant and it displays a condition natural to the age of the piece. The choker and liquid silver necklace are NOT included. If you are interested in these, I can offer them in a separate listing. I’m happy to provide the buyer all information regarding the appraiser if you wish to have this professionally appraised by him after purchase. This pendant would typically sell at Garland’s or other fine Native Art galleries for no less than $1800 or more. It is a wonderful testament to the long history of fine Turquoise jewelry craftsmanship of the Navajo. The pendant will be shipped immediately upon receipt of payment via USPS Priority Mail, insured. If you prefer FED EX, please contact me prior for a shipping rate. The pendant has been stored out of the sunlight and the stones show no evidence of color fading. The silver retains much of its original patina. There are very light surface scratches on the back of the silver which most likely occurred either when the pin was removed, or the bail was originally attached. Photos have been taken in various types of light and there is absolutely NO editing of color. The crystalline structure of Turquoise, like all minerals, refracts light differently in different light and at various angles. The first pic was taken with an iPhone 15 Pro Max in bright sunlight. Other pics were taken in less bright lighting with an iPhone 12 Pro Max. No color was edited. Color is correct in all lighting. Message me with any and all questions regarding this fabulous piece. I’m not accepting offers at this time, as the listed price is well below what one would expect to pay in a retail gallery, and I’m happy for it to remain in my collection if there is little interest. This gorgeous, rare, historic piece is for the serious, discriminating collector of vintage Navajo and Native American jewelry art. All inquiries are welcome. Thank you for looking, and please check out my other beautiful pieces for sale!
