Description: Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a rare vintage Sterling Silver miniature 7-piece vanity table set known as the Empress Maria table set named after Russian Empress Maria Feodorovna and made by master silver miniature artist Vladimir Matusovsky. This set was purchased by the original owner direct from Mr. Matusovsky in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada for $3000.00. His business card will accompany this purchase with the original price written on the back. This fabulous set includes a silver vanity table, a swinging cheval table top mirror with drawer, vanity chair with upholstered back and seat, a pair of lidded urns and a pair of tall candlesticks. We also have a copy of a page from the "Miniature Collector" about Mr. Matusovsky with a picture of the Empress Maria table set. Set consists of: 1. Vanity table stands on six tall slender legs and measures 2 3/4" high, 3 1/2" long and 1 5/8" deep. Weighs 100 grams. 2. Round table top mirror stand measures 2" high, 1 3/8" wide and 3/8" deep. Pair candlesticks measure 7/8" high with a 7/16" square base. Combined weight is 10 grams. Combined weight of all seven pieces is 190 grams. This stunning vanity set is in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws. This rare set is a treasure that will become one of the jewels of any miniature dollhouse collection or of anyone who simply loves the finest miniature items. Each piece is finely made with every attention paid to details and the quality is exceptional. We found tiny hallmarks on some of the pieces but due to the size of the pieces, any marks are not only difficult to find but hard to apply. Since we know that Mr. Matusovsky worked in Sterling Silver and this set is documented, we are certain that all pieces are made of Sterling Silver. The following information was taken from an article from the "Miniature Collector" magazine (which is included). Vladimir Matusovsky "...worked as a jewelry maker in Russia and was taught by one of the best filigree makers there. After working as a jeweler for 10 years in Canada, Vladimir spotted a miniatures store and was coaxed into the hobby". Unfortunately, Mr. Matusovsky died in 2008 but not before teaching his son Greg the craft of making silver miniatures and the love of the art. Greg has become a miniature dollhouse furniture and accessory artist in his own right and makes an appearance at certain International shows. We currently have a nice selection of Sterling Silver dollhouse furniture and accessories including tea sets, etc. so please visit our eBay Store and view our other great items.
