Here is a large genuine fossil ammonite with pyritization, from the Jurassic of what today is near Buttenheim, Germany, about 185 million years ago. Actually there are 2 ammonites in this piece. The large one is also in positive-negative, so there are both parts and they fit together (photos). Just below this large ammonite, coming in at an angle, the edge of a second, small ammonite shows itself, with same bright lustrous color. The whole piece together is about 1.85" by 1.55" at the longest measurements. The gorgeous "golden" color of the pyritized ammonite is real, not painted.We invite you to visit our store.
