RARE ANTIQUE 1920’s U. S. GLASS FLORAL INTAGLIO WATERLILY CLEAR TOOTHPICK HOLDER

Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE RARE ANTIQUE 1920’s U. S. GLASS FLORAL INTAGLIO WATERLILY CLEAR TOOTHPICK HOLDERA beautiful and heavy piece of American made art glass in the form of a lovely little round, barrel shaped toothpick holder. This piece was made by U. S. Glass and is a very neat piece. First, it was made as a piece of pressed glass with a floral pattern in relief molded into the piece, then a skilled craftsperson made abrasive wheel cuts on two sides to create the two waterlily blossoms. The abrasive wheels give the waterlily blossoms a very neat frosted appearance. A true piece of art glass and it is amazing to me how much labor was put into such a small piece. It is a very high-quality piece of hand-made and cut pressed crystal or clear colored glass; this is further evidenced by the factory grinding and polishing to the underside of the foot so the piece would sit level. This piece has been part of my personal toothpick holder collection since 2017. Please be sure to read the “Age and Condition” & “Approximate Dimensions” paragraphs below. Also, please read about our multiple purchase discount under the “PAYMENT, SHIPPING, Insurance & PACKAGING” paragraph below. This toothpick pattern is pictured and described in the 1984 book: Rare & Unlisted Toothpick Holders by William Heacock on page 47 as Photo # 1244.If you are not familiar with the NTHCS (National Toothpick Holder Collectors’ Society) it is a great organization and you can learn more about toothpick holders and collecting them at their website.I do my best to describe all items as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability. Some of my photos may be somewhat lighter or darker than actual to better show detail or color. However, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or with requests for additional pictures. I will get back to you as soon as I am able. I want your transaction with me to be exactly the way I want mine to be when I am the buyer. Please take a moment and visit our eBay store “TNK Antiques.” You can access our store through a link in any of our eBay listings. Our store has many unique and interesting items in several different categories from 35 years of our dealing and collecting antiques and collectables.Age and ConditionThis piece probably dates to circa 1920. It is in excellent to near mint condition. Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item. Other than some roughness (tiny flea bites) to the outer edge of the base, where the piece sits, there are no chips, no other flea bites, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Some of the mentioned roughness may be from the factory grinding and polishing process done to the underside so the piece sits level. Please keep in mind these photos may be blown up at least 8-10 times normal, so anything you see will look 8-10 times larger in the photos than it really is. Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos, it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece. It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo.Approximate DimensionsAbout 2” (5.1 cm) across at the widest point of the body and sits about 2.25” (5.7 cm) off the table. Approximate WeightAbout 4.625 ounces (129 grams).
