The timer is marked THE LUX CLOCK MFG. CO., WATERBURY, CONN. USA. The wording is distorted and hard to read but we are fairly certain this is what it says. We are unsure as to how old the timer is and are guessing based on its style and construction that it dates to the 1920s or 1930s. We tested the timer and it appears to be in working order. We found out that you must move the dial past the 5-minute mark when setting the timer to engage the ringer. You can then set it to whatever time you desire. We are unsure as to what types of metals were used to manufacture the item. We tested the body with a magnet and the magnet was not attracted to the body/housing. The metal back panel was attracted to the magnet when tested. The timer measures roughly 5 1/8” x 4 3/8” x 2 7/8” at its furthest points. The timer looks to have its original black painted surface although it is quite worn, chipped, and/or faded away throughout. The timer also has scratches, nicks, aging, rust, discoloration, dirty and/or stained areas, and general wear (see pictures). The timer appears to be free of any breaks, cracks, or repairs. The timer weighs roughly 1 lb 13 oz. This rare antique working Art Deco style Lux Clock Manufacturing Company “Minute Minder” metal kitchen timer is sure to be a nice addition to your collection.
