The Baggara Arabs are a nomadic people of mixed Arab and indigenous African ancestry living in Chad and Sudan, with small minorities in Nigeria, Cameroon, Niger, Central African Republic and South Sudan. This lidded basket or utilitarian container is hand made from tightly woven natural wicker and leather with the lid that covers the top opening, with the side carrying strap. This is genuine antique ethnographic artifact and estimated to be from the 19th Century. Truly one of a kind, rare and fine museum piece.
