Description: Made in 1947 per the serial number, this incredibly light little beauty was well used but not abused! We got it with the typical frozen focuser wheel and eye cups. When the oculars were freed, we found slight uniform film on prisms. Cleaned off the haze causing film, wiped out the interior of the chassis, as well as the interior surfaces of the objective lenses and the same to the oculars. Gave the focus wheel and right diopter a lube job. Adjusted the slightly off alignment via tiny turns to those really unique set screws (3) found around the outside of the right objective. They require an equally small hex wrench that we will include. Now when we say small adjustments we mean like a 16th of a turn!!! Never saw such screws as all we have cleaned over the years, easily a dozen or more, had slotted screw heads! Believe we nailed collimation and our wife's own orbs set at a much narrower IPD than our own tell her there is no doubling of views. Since we've been doing this for about nine years and have sold literally hundreds of old binos we serviced with just a handful deemed unsuitable for the buyer (readily returned for adjustment or a full refund) we are confident you will find them perfect. If not, the included wrench allows you to tweak views. And those views are simply outstanding! The entire optic's chassis has been conditioned and we added a strong black nylon carry strap that was glued, stapled and then taped in place. The Zephyr models are extremely lightweight by use of magnesium in lieu of aluminum. Though we have one model made in 1966 that DOES use aluminum and is noticeably heavier!!! This 8x,30 ranks right up there with the famous Leitz Binuxit 8x,30 and uses a superior design for the chassis. See the very informative FLIKR review! Having survived 77 years it will soldier on for another century or more with once a decade or so cleanings. The case is in good shape, also conditioned and missing its carry strap that probably dry rotted and fell off long ago. One could easily pay our asking price just for servicing. Satisfaction or request a return and cheerful refund within three days of receipt, please. Remember: HAMAS never attacked the USS Liberty!
