Description: RARE VINTAGE DISCONTINUED MAIL ORDER CARD AD for STEVE STEIGMAN MAXELL AUDIO TAPES BLOWN AWAY GUY POSTERWith Very Unusual Advertising Tagline: THIS MAN OUGHT TO BE HUNG ~ ~ Circa 1980s Here is a rare printed card and mail order ad for the Maxell Blown Away Guy poster designed in 1979 by Steve Steigman. This card likely dates to the mid-1980s, as it was found at an estate sale with other items from this time frame. The card shows the iconic Steigman photographic image above a startling promotional heading: "THIS MAN OUGHT TO BE HUNG" plus "Send $2 and get this poster for your room." Obviously they mean the poster of the seated guy should be hung on the wall and not the man himself! (I'm guessing whoever came up with the tagline for this ad didn't last very long at the advertising agency in charge of this Maxell campaign.) The card is in excellent condition and has no writing or creases. The dollar bill is being shown for scale and *is not included* with this auction. IMPORTANT NOTE: the promotion for the poster ended decades ago, so you cannot send in $2 with this card and expect to receive the poster. Please look at the photos carefully as they are part of the description. Because I am not the original owner, I cannot guarantee that these items have never been exposed to smoke, pets or peanut butter, however my nose is sensitive and I don't detect any unpleasant odors.
