Description: Offered for your consideration is an extremely rare EAPG vaseline canary uranium “Knights of Labor” bread plate in this color. The manufacturer was believed to be Central Glass Co.??, circa 1880’s. The Knights of Labor was an organization founded in Philadelphia, circa 1869, by a group of tailors. By 1886, it was a dominant labor organization in the US, with a membership of approximately 700,000. However, 1886 was a year marked by 1600 strikes and resulted in a backlash against unionism and ultimately led to their demise, fostering the creation of the American Federation of Labor (AFL) in December 1886. This is an exceptional and hard to find piece of history!!!
