Description: This amazing large art sculpture was Purchased from an Estate many years ago that featured magnificent works of art after the original owner has passed on.. Loving this sculpture i immediately purchased it and now i decided it is time to sell it to someone else. It was created and signed by the French artist Gilbert Valentin( b.1928) . He was born in Nancy, France . the son of a famed metal artist in Nancy, and started his own ceramic work in Luneville in 1946. This piece precedes his ceramic period and shows his close friendship and connection to Picasso as well as his knowledge of metal art as per his father. . He also maintained many friendships with many artists including Jacques Prevert, Georges Braque, and Jean Cocteau. His modern forms and cubist designs shown in this large sculpture are also to be found as well in his many ceramics and tile forms. The piece measures 22 1/4"Tall including base.The exact measurements are as follows.The sculpture itself measures 19 9/16 T X 15" L X 5 1/4 " at its deepest area. The wooden Base measures 11 3/8 L x 8 3/4 D X 2 3/4 H overall height is about 23" with the base the large sculpture is signed by the artist on a plaque as shown as part of the sculpture. the whole sculpture is attached to a heavy wood base as shown .they do not separate and will be shipped as shown .
