Description: Here is a very rare Jackfield-type sauceboat (or perhaps today we would call it a gravy boat) with a typical lustrous black glaze. This shape, standing on three feet, is a familiar one because there are many silver, saltglazed and creamware examples, but it is rare to see it in a black Jackfield body like this. It is seven and one-half inches long and three and one-half inches high and wide. Several spots of the original gilding remain, but nearly all of that has been rubbed off over the years. Condition is not the best. It has been in two pieces and reglued. Also, a small triangular section has been restored at the rim. No other damage, but there is a small original flaw on the handle. Found in Pennsylvania. Ref C567
