Description: Up for Auction is thisRare Limited Edition Number 9 of only 15 Famous Artist Martha Armstrong-Hand's Colonial Mother & Child Doll Set Made In Porcelain in 1989 This limited edition by Martha Armstrong is called Colonial Mother and ChildIt was made in 1989This set is an extremely limited studio set made by the artist.This set is number 9 of only 15I have never seen this set offered for saleBoth the Mother and baby have 17 points of articulation for life like posing.These dolls are made of all porcelain and are fairly heavyMartha Armstrong developing of complex porcelain doll joints remains unsurpassedMartha was a Member of the NIADA where she was a legend and an iconMartha was coined as “the most technically correct doll artist of our time” by NIADA MembersAll her dolls were proportionally perfect and this mother and child is no differentThey both have beautifully hand painted faces and blue painted eyesThe both have blonde curly hair. The mom has her hair styled in 4 bun knots on her head under her bonnet.Both of the dolls clothing is not only period buy made of high quality fabrics and is exquisite.The mothers handmade shoes are made of leather with a buckle and a wooden sole.Both of these dolls are in excellent condition except there is one flaw. The baby's fingers on her left hand have been chipped off. (I purchased them from a collector's estate and the shipper packed them horribly and this happen during shipping) I think it can be restored. Otherwise they are perfect. They are clean.Martha passed away in 2004 she was 84(The chair is just a prop for the photo and is not included) Don't let this amazing piece of art get away.This is one set you will want in your collection.
